Good morning all,

So, I have been trying to lose weight for a couple of months doing (I thought) all the right things but cannot seem to shift the half stone I want to lose.

Today is my first fast day, I've had two cups of tea for breakfast (with milk) but now I'm onto Rooibos and Green Tea for the rest of the day. I'm going to have a fish finger and a few frozen veg for lunch and a small bowl of soya cottage pie for dinner (and maybe one more cup of tea!)

Firstly, does this sound OK for a day or is it to much?

Secondly and mainly, my husband and I are trying to conceive, we have been for 8 months :( I wanted to know if this diet could in any way affect that?
Good morning picklein and welcome to the forums!

Your plan for the day seems OK, but to check, its best to use an online calorie counter such as http://www.fatsecret.co.uk which has a huge database of foods including many from the usual UK supermarkets so it should have your fishfingers etc on there for easy calorie calculating!

Re: conception, losing weight if you are very overweight can improving the chances of conception but if you are underweight then losing weight can reduce fertility! Prolonged/very frequent fasting has been shown to reduce fertility in rats at least (not sure about humans without checking). I would not imagine that just 2 days a week on a low calorie intake would affect fertility, but there are no research studies to say one way or the other. I imagine that if there is any kind of problem with fertility for either of you, then it would depend exactly what the problem is as to whether fasting/losing weight would help/hinder. Sorry, I can't be more help.
Survived my first day, it was tough, especially at dinner time where I like to pick at things while I'm cooking! I found it hard to concentrate at times during the day but not as bad as I expected. Next day is Tuesday so a nice feasty weekend :D
Not too feasty though!
