5 years ago before life and depression happened, I was around 8/8.5 stone... Now I'm 5 yrs older and 7 stone heavier! I'm 164cm tall, so my BMI (bmi under my name not quite accurate, as I used feet and inches) is well into obese, and I really feel it.

I lost half a stone a while back, but then found out I was pregnant with my, now 2 year old, little boy ... So I pigged out while I was pregnant and it all went downhill again!
I got postnatal depression which led to crazy amounts of comfort eating. I'm out of the depression now, finally, and need to start shifting this vile weight, so I can feel like me again.

I started just eating less on July 28th, and have lost 4lbs, and today I started the 4:3, I fasted today and it was easy thank goodness. I had fizzy water through the day, and 400cal stirfry with quorn 'chicken' pieces and sweet chilli sauce for my evening meal. I also had half a marzipan biscuit at 50cals.

So, So far so good! Feed day tomorrow, really hoping I don't overdo it. I'm not actually hungry at the moment so I've got high hopes!

I'll post my measurements etc tomorrow :-)
Hello and welcome to the most friendly and helpful site you could wish for! Good luck as you start your journey...onwards and downwards :)

Don't be too hard on yourself and enjoy this WOL. I've been where you are and it does get easier.

The weight will come off and I find that I am feeling a lot better (generally)than I have done in a very long time.

Good luck :clover:
Morning all :-D First feed day today, have made a peanut butter and banana milkshake, but not really that hungry! I have been eating very little for 10 days now, so I guess my appetite/stomach have shrunk. That's a good thing! I usually struggle and stop the diet around the 5th day, so I'm well over that hump now! :-D
Haven't been very hungry today, but gotta have something for dinner, so I'm doing toasted bagels with bacon and Philadelphia. Nom nom!

Thank you ;-) I can't wait to feel like that too :-D
Welcome to the forum where you will find lots of information & support from like minded people. I have found this way of eating (WOE) enables me to have a normal life although I do keep a close record of what I eat & try to average my TDEE on eating days. But the joy is being able to still have a social life & eat out. I am a slow loser so I will be around for quite awhile yet. I hope you enjoy being a 5:2er & well done for getting started.
Welcome and good luck on your journey :like: As others have said this forum will be a fantastic support to you.

It's a very good idea to measure as you have done, because most people find that in some weeks inches are lost even if weight loss seems to have stalled.
Second Fast day today. Weighed myself yesterday and today (need to learn self control with the scales!!) and I was down another lb after the fast day, and still today after the feed day! It's a nice little boost. Losing weight gives you a feeling that nothing else does! :victory:

I've just got a lot to lose, so will be around a good while too! :-P How long have you been doing 5:2?

I've never measured before, but been on lots of diets haha, so it'll be exciting to see the inches actually come off :-)
Welcome Miss Lemon and the very best of Luck :clover: with your weight loss. I hope you don't mind if I make a suggestion. If I were you, I'd do the 5:2 to start (its easier to cope with two days) and only go to 4:3 if your weight-loss stalls. If you start with 4;3 you have nowhere to go to kickstart the loss if you plateau. I would also say that you MUST eat well on feed days. Don't be fooled into thinking that cutting back will speed your loss - the opposite is more likely to happen. If you constantly reduce your calorie intake your metabolism will slow down. The whole idea of 5:2 is that you only diet 2 days a week. I've been doing it since April and have found that if I stick to 500 cals twice a week eating and drinking normally for five days, I lose weight. Hope you find it as easy to follow. :clover:

Hi Megashelley :-) Thank you, great advice! Really got me thinking. I was gonna fast today, but I'm not going to now, partly because of what you said about 5:2, and partly because I'm off to a beach thing with my wee boy, and taking yummy food haha!

Last night went great, had huge salad, with 190 cals of light feta cheese, and 20 cals of light french dressing (which turned out to be tasteless, so I put a load of calorie-free apple-cider-vinegar on as well!!) I had 166 cals allowance left, so had a treaty Weight Watchers frozen chocolate brownie thingy, while watching Frasier!

Off to weigh myself, though am waiting for my period, so I know I may weigh a bit more.

Ooh and I swear a solemn oath that today I will eat appropriately for a non-fast day!! ;-)
I've lost a lb and a half :-D That's 6.5lb since I started... Think i'll definitely reach my 7lb goal by Sunday! :-D
Well done Miss Lemon! That's a really good start. Hope you hit your mini goal (and if not, just keep trying!)

I too was 7 stone overweight when I started my weightloss effort a couple of years ago. I've lost about 3 1/2 stone in that time with just regular dieting and exercise, so it can be done! In my case, I was just determined to do it regardless of how long it took, which does take a bit of mental pressure off as you know that the weight is more likely to stay off if it's slow and steady anyway. And ANYTHING you lose, however small, still puts you in a better place than the weight you were to start with.

This WOE is ideal for that I think.

Keep going!!
